s2kbyu, if you are looking for power, real power, i suggest you go out and buy a VAFC and a harness.
I noticed you are in So Cali as well. Take you car to ULs shop and have him dyno tune your car with the VAFC. I did this on Saturday and picked up 7 - 10 ponies throughout the powerband to the wheels!!!. Obviously dyno proven.
The luxury of this upgrade, is that it is updatable. If you buy a chip, its set at a certain fuel and air map that the designer thinks is correct. Every car is different. Not everyone has the same mods. When you add mods, things change as well, obviously. You can always go back and retune your car with the new mods to your own car's specifications with the VAFC.
For around 440 dollars in parts, about 160 bux for installation and 1 hours worth of dyno tuning, you will be amazed at the gains you will see. I was. The car has much more power everywhere and is running much smoother.
UL is the shit and is patient enough to get your car where it needs to be. He doesnt do this for money guys, he does it because he enjoys it. That should tell you everything right there.

From 213 ponies to the wheel, i ended up with 223. something. I am installing a single outlet Ti exhaust on Thursday and will be back at his shop this weekend to extract even more power out of my car. I ll keep you guys updateD

There were two reasons actually. First, my exhaust didnt come in from Japan until last Friday, so i would have been really pressed for time to install in and get over there to tune. The main reason though, is that the exhaust is a new system just arriving here in the states. Its a single outlet and made of Ti. With all the hype going on about exhausts not making power on the S2000 and there being no difference between single and dual outlet, i decided to try an experiment for myself. Currently, i m running an Apex WS dual canister exhaust so the conversion will atleast help me lose 40 pounds of weight.
This way, i know for sure if louder really means more power.

Also, to clarify, you cannot directly modify the S2000 ECU. You can do like the VAFC and adjust the sensor inputs but there is no "chip" to change per se.

To change timing you need an aftermarket ECU like Mugen or Spoon (pretuned, not tunable) or AEM or Hondata (someday?). Those are your choices, and expensive ones at that. These aren't cheap drop in EEPROMS with new maps.

cthree, i believe that the new Greddy untit can also adjust timing as well to your own specs. The reason i didnt go with that one, was because many tuners are not familiar with it yet and i didnt want to take any chances. The Greddy unit has everything the VAFC does plus more, and its cheap

if anyone is really dying to discover what gains are really out there, get an efi systems pms. it is a semistandalone computer which sits after the stock computer and directly modifies the injector pulse signals and timing. you can adjust fuel and timing per throttle, rpm, boost, or load, and any stock features (like the pesky immobilizer) are intact and unaffected. it has auxilary outputs which can be used to switch the vtec activation point.

it can be tuned with a cheesy handheld controller, or via a laptop and a much nicer windows app. changes occur in real time, unlike hondata.

i have one lying around from my boosted prelude sh, so i am tempted to try it out on dynospots dyno, for kicks.

Of course traction control can fit on a single chip.

Just because there are single chip solutions available, doesn't mean that every ECU in the world actually CONTAINS one.
