Foam should be ideal, as closed-cell foam theoretically should allow few particles of any signficant size to pass through without being trapped, and held, in the filter medium, But they do not seem to flow as well as a K&N, and often less so than a quality paper style filter.
Darcy's law has a linear term for thickness of the bed (filter media). Paper media is about 1/64" thick (from my eye - not measured) and the foam filters I have seen are about 2 -3" thick. So the foam would have to be about 100 to 200 times more porous (or permeable) to get the same pressure drop. If there was an emoticon for a skeptical look I would place it here. I don't beleive that foam media could be that much more porous than paper media, and if it were - it would probably have huge pores and capture very few inlet particles.

Last night i opened my airbox. I have a comptech filter, the bottom have of the filter is laying on the bottom of the box (i think the stock is like that too).

Its blocked off down there. would there be any benifits if the filter was elevated a little?

For those interested in quality filters, may I suggest Advanced Flow Engineering.
They are the finest filters I have used in 25 years.

A lot (if not most) of the technical discussion here, in a nutshell, is supporting
discoveries I've learned as a result of owning eight various intakes for the S2000. I'll
soon be on intake kit #9. They all, at WOT, are within 2-3hp of each other (if you
believe a Tazzo).
It's nice to see my .02 being supported with science.
FWIW, the best intake (to date) I've owned is the the AEM V2. It addresses
resonance issues most other manufacturers clearly avoid. Very deep, excellent
mid-range but not without its own little negatives (as they all have one or two).
Still, for overall power, I don't think there is a finer intake.

Hey, what about putting in a bigger filter. Since, I already cut the baffle out, and installed a comptech (according to this thread, it's not better then the OEM). I want to replace it now.

Can i just install a longer filter?

I think something everyone should take away from this discussion is that you have to select an intake/filter based upon your needs as an owner and your engine's breathing needs.

Lots of water/rain in your area? Lots of dust? Can't stand droning/humming (or your wife can't? )?

The AEM V2 is probably the best overall intake out there today for near stock cars. They did the development for it on my car and having owned a V1 before that, the improvement was small, but noticeable, especially on the dyno. As Russ said, AEM really smoothed out the resonance issues for a better overall curve (albeit missing that nice spike at low rpms which feels nice in traffic). But, if you're going to plan on making more power, the V2, with its relatively small intake piping, can quickly become a restriction, so, plan accordingly. Anything more than 20-30 hp over stock and you'll have to go elsewhere (custom?).
