Default Please help...check engine light came on

Car was driving fine then I received no throttle response and the accelerator was depressed half way. Then all of a sudden the car jolts. It happened several times like that. Accelerator depressed...no response then away she goes. The check engine light came on next. The car seemed to drive ok after the light came on but I drove moderately. Has this happened to anyone? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I had the EXACT same problem with my FZR just before the rectifier/regulator caught on fire (2 days after I bought the bike!).

Have you had any problems with the electrical/charging system?

First step is to take it to a mechanic and have them withraw the code. Without knowing what code was set it is almost impossible to help you.

Sounds like it could be ignition related.

Go to an Autozone. They will pull the code for you.

OK, I'll be the first to ask: MAP sensor?

Fixed! It turns out the intake came loose from the throttle body. I guess I didn't tighten the clamp well enough. At least it was an easy fix and no harm was done. Thanks for your help!

I would have thought that you would get more power from removing the intake but I guess the sensor read it as too much and put the car in limp.
