Does the car actually store misfire codes, or are you just after fixing a noise?
I do not have a CEL. Before I had a CEL and thought that it was the reason for the putting. It was the knock sensor. They replaced that and the CEL went away, but not the noise. I dont have any CELs right now. Just a putting noise!

Roja said the valves where inspected on his 1st post. If this is a hunt for a noise, Then I'd start inspecting the exhaust system for leaks. Otherwise my crystal ball is pretty cloudy on this one.

I first noticed it a long time ago when I put my first exhaust on, the Apexi WS. I thought that it was what caused it, but I figure I probably just didnt notice it until I had something that made the exhaust a little louder. I tossed the Apexi in the garbage and bought the Invidia. Same problem. Now with stock exhaust, same problem. Dave, as I said, supposedly Honda checked it all?!

Do you have a VAFC or EMS?

Some brainstorming thoughts:

Did the dealers witness the "Putting" condition? If so, I'm not sure how they can say they couldn't find anything.

I'm assuming that the putt-putt sound is a misfire, but it's strange that your ECU isn't picking this up. You might want to hook the car up to an OBDII scantool hooked up to a laptop while you're running. You could watch all the parameters of the engine. Maybe it will catch something that isn't quite enough to trigger a CEL.

Is it possible that the putt-putt sound isn't a misfire? Could it be a rattle or a loose baffle in your muffler? Can you hear any noise coming from your catalytic converter? Can you rule out these potential problems?

I do not have a vafc or ems. I want a VAFC, but dont have one. I can rule out the exhaust cuz as i said, ive had 3 different ones. Thats all i can rule out. The dealer has witnessed the problem and still says its normal. Thats all I know.

As mentioned before, small exhaust leak possibly. Check out all the exhaust flanges with the car on, listen and feel for air. Did you replace the gaskets when you switched exhaust components back and forth?

I sure did. I will look into that. I will be getting an aftermarket header, test pipe, and exhaust (a 4th one) soon. I figure that it will HOPEFULLY fix the problem, but im worried it wont. The Honda dealership said that they will warranty me even after 36k for this problem, but i would rather have it fixed and done with. Im gonna try whacking the MAP sensor this weekend. Is that a possible fix for my problem or is it a waste of time? Thanks!
