Yeah you can get them there or your local dealer. Shouldn't be that much.

Thanks Dan. I spoke with my service advisor today. Im bringing my car in this upcoming Wednesday cuz they have to replace the filler neck in my gas tank. They said theyd search again for the problem and call Honda to see if they might know anything. They said they dont think its a gasket cuz that would most likely cause a putting as I accelerate, not as im idling. Is that true? I suppose I will just buy gaskets from them to replace them anyways since I ordered my header and test pipe today. Any comments about what they said? Thanks!

You would hear it more during acceleration but you would also hear it during idle.

I dont hear anything during accelleration. Only when its at a stop. Its just a faint putting noise only when the car is idling. Every 2 or 3 seconds its a putt noise like its backfiring. My friend thinks it might be the gasket that connects the header to the test pipe. He said, "I think its probably the gasket between the cat and header cause if you remember the Apexi exhaust (which was my 1st exhaust and the first time we heard the noise) has the broken hanger by the cat."

The put is coming out of the tailpipe right?????? I don't think it is a gasket but who knows...... I still think it could be something to do with the valves......I had a putting noise that drove me crazy for 2 months with no CEL in my GSR. Took it to honda many times and they said they could not find anything. I told them to check the valves,.......they did and said all was fine. About a week after the last time I took it in I got a CEL brought it in and they told me I had a bad valve after tearing the head apart. Honda is always quick to tell someone that there is nothing wrong with the car. I would burn 1.5 quarts of oil every 1000 miles and a valve tap that you could here from a block away and they tell me its normal, and they compared it to other GSR's and they were the same..........That is total BS. I bought the car there once with oil basically dripping from my exhaust and the blamed it on the aftermarket DC sport exhaust (bought through them).

Did they do a compression or leakdown test???????

Good luck and I hope you figure out what is wrong with ur S......... I want to know
Kenny

Thanks Ken. I will ask them again, but they told me that they did a leakdown and compression test. I brought it to two different dealers, so you would think at least one of them would have check the valves. I will ask them to do a compression test and leakdown test again and make sure its written on paper. Im about to add my intake, header, testpipe, and throttle body (in a couple of weeks the throttle body will be here) so I want to get it figured out so I dont get blamed due to my aftermarket parts. Hope they figure it out?!?!

Sounds like you might be getting a little unburned fuel into your exhaust, but why no CEL?

How is your engine vibration at idle?

Normal. It feels normal except that you can feel it putting every time it does. I dont know why it isnt throwing a CEL either?! Would a bent valve or something along those lines throw a CEL?

This thread is pissing me off.

Start your car. Let it idle. Get out of the car and determine exactly where the sound is coming from. If it's coming from the tailpipe, then that's not an exhaust leak. However, if it's coming from where the header joins the head, where the header joins the cat, or where the cat joins the exhaust then it is and exhaust leak.

Until you determine exactly where the sound is coming from, I vote that everyone should stop responding to this thread, because it will just be a waste of time.
