unplugged the battery over night and rechecked the connections (electrical and mechanical). I've driven around most of the day today and pretty much every other time I drive the car it's either handling amazing or spastic. Same roads, no real rhyme or reason. Just key cycles... the fiance thinks the car is PMS'ing. I'd have to agree.
I'm lost and pissed.

Sorry for the slow update, yeah i cleaned the connection but with no avail. My friend works at Honda and we plugged it up the their machine, and only sometimes would it show a "power steering signal low". I look in the helms and it saids if the red wire is ok, than replace the steering gearbox. There was a post here not too long ago about someone swaping racks and the problem went away, might be my next move :/

Unfortunately, there are posts stating even with swapping racks, the problem returned.
what to do?
With cold fronts coming every week now, I've got power steering two days a week (unless I'm turning left).

Same issue here. Have a 00 with 145k miles. When its cold i seem to have more issues. Normally on a turn, i start loosing it and it feels jerky. Then it comes back. No eps light either. Its annoying and a bit dangerous if your taking a fast turn. Will try the some of the fixes here to see if that corrects it.

I really wish the fix was to just unplug it but with the EPS acting up I have no idea where the rack is ratio wise. Anyone have a break-down of the wiring at the EPS module? I'm wondering if you can just jumper some wires or bypass the VSS (or keep it low?) or just something to keep the steering consistent. How does the VSS work? Pulses/frequency going to the EPS?

I have the same eps problem for more than a year now and desperately looking for a solution...its not the EPS module, its not the rack and its not the torque sensor connection, so what is it then? Although at 7o degrees or higher, it works fine. Very frustrating...

Are you getting a fault code? You really need this to help diagnose. The factory manual has a pretty good procedure too.

That's the thing, no fault code.
