problem with a 04 s2k

That feeling is completely normal for a cold transmission.

Agreed. Cold temp initial is "notchier". Let the car warm up to three bars on the temp guage before zooming away.
I really like the GM Synchromesh Friction Modified in my gearbox. I put it in two weeks ago at 12k and am very pleased with the smoother transitions.

also when the car is cold, try double clutch shifting sloooooooowly (might even blip the throttle in between to keep the revs up)....it completely gets rid of the notchiness for me.
oh and relax, it's normal

Actually double clutching it may not always help alot(I used to do it). I find a far more effective technique is to shift about 5K or so in first...the rest of the gears don't matter. You still have to be careful the first 2 shifts but shifts like gold after that......

yes and no...notchiness between 1-2 is normal....notchiness between 2-3 is not....The 2-3 notchiness mildly worries me....
