Default problem with starting

My car was doing fine untill yesterday, untill car decided not to start.
I was trying to start the car and I get nothing.
so, I checked battery voltage and it was reading 12.3V.
I didn't know what to do and just decided to check the starter motor fuse.
when I took out the fuse and re-installed it and car started.
and rest of the day, the car was starting fine.
but this morning the car didn't start again.
So, I pull the fuse and re installed it like what I did day before.
however, car did not start. but when I put the car in 1st gear the car started.
anyone know what could be wrong with it?
thanks in advance

From what I could understand, when the car doesn't start the starter does not rotate the crank correct? If this is the case, your starter motor is sticking and will need to be rebuilt or replaced.

When you say you put it in first gear, were you push starting it? If not, a gear selection wont have any influence in the starting system of the car. If you need to push start, always use 3rd gear.

If when the car would not start the starter WAS rotating the crank, then you could be looking at a electrical or fuel delivery issue.

not sure about the first statement.
but as for the second statement, no I did not push start the car.
and like you stated what I don't understand is when starting a car, my clutch is in so being in gear wouldn't matter.

when you say you couldn't start the car, could you hear the starter spinning at all? or when you press the start button nothing happens but everything else lights up like normal (dash etc)?

If the latter then ur starter is possibly not getting power, i had a similar issue. ended up being a loose wire going into the starter. I simply pushed it back in and voila it worked. I had to snake my hand through the back of the intake manifold to get to it and push the wire (yea i'm a skinny mofo lol). I do this once every month or so, because it keeps getting loose.
(want to fix it but its location makes it a pain to get to)

Take the starter to your local auto parts store and have them check to see if it works.
