Problems at all with the drop top?
Hey all, I'm just doing some research on the s2k as a prospective new car purchase sometime down the road, and would like to know about some common problems with the convertible top.
Have any of you had any problems with leaking, wind noise, wear and tear, and or security issues?
How does it hold up in rough winters? (I'm from New England, and would be using it as my DD, with snow tires in the winter of course.)
Is anyone worried that someone might just be able to take a knife to your top to get into it?
Is the security system sensitive to this?
I suppose its no different than someone breaking your window to get into your car, but someone may be more likely to just puncture your top as a part of vandalism or whatever.
I've never owned a convertible, these are just some curiosity questions I have.
Any help and information would be appreciated.

The tops have a reputation for tearing behind the drivers and passengers outer shoulders. Criminals can cut the top, but they could also break the window. If you get an S2000 with a plastic window, you need to be careful of using it below 45
Save up and buy a beater in the winter and S for the summer.
I did and i'm very happy since you can really appreicate the car when you get back into it during the warmer months.
This car is low and will get alot of chips and dings from winter salt and rocks.

The concerns you have go with owning a convertable. I've owned several and this is the best top as far as weather proof goes since every other convertable I've had did leak just a little somewhere around the windows or the leading edge above the windshield.
When I bought my S ,I fully expected to have this same little problem and accepted that I would live with it happily. That I don't makes me even happier.

I think it is really quiet for a convertible, never leaked a drop. I had my top replaced because of the small holes mentioned above -free, thanks Honda. As far as driving it in winter, I moved south to florida so the S and I are happier
