Default Problems with clutch?

For the past several weeks, I have had resistance in the clutch pedal. At the top of the stroke it feels like it "pops" then depresses the rest of the way fine. In the last week the clutch is starting to slip at higher RPM's. The car has 35k miles, and I am not the original owner.

Friend of mine helped me replace the clutch master cylinder but it had no effect. Any thoughts? I wouldnt think a clutch could wear out this quickly. Several people suggested it may be the throw out bearing. If so can this be replaced without the entire clutch assembly?

Any help is appreciated.

Maybe the splines were not greased properly, and now it affects the slide of the Fruiction Disc. Might wanna remove the slave, pop the fork out, and look with a flashlight. Maybe, _maybe_, you'll see something.

Other than that, you should really really bleed the system. Get a big bottle of DOT3 brake fluid, do a pump-bleed (pump with your foot while adding fluid), then do a straight gravity-bleed.

Or is it the other way around, gravity-bleed first, guys?

Oh, while the slave is off, look at the ball and ball socket, make sure they're very very smooth, polished, and well lubed.

You cannot replace the throwout bearing without disassembling the clutch. Why do you think the throwout bearing is the problem?

mine is having this exact problem. did you ever resolve this issue? i know the ball on the end of my slave cyl is smooth and the fluid is bled and fresh.

It pops right at the top of the pedal travel and only on disengagement. It doesnt happen at low speeds or engine loads either. Any ideas?
