Propeller shaft rebuild
I am in the process of removing my differential and I managed to poke a hole in the part of the propeller shaft that bolts to the diff companion flange and houses the "u-joint". I did this with a pair of locking pliers that I was using to remove a hex head bolt that was stripped out. The hole is about 1/4" long and allows grease to squirt out when the joint is flexed. This is not good. It seems that Honda only sells the complete propeller shaft assembly and no serviceable parts.
If I am able to find this part used, would it be possible to pop the old one, grease up the new and put it on making sure to clamp the rubber boot properly?
Any one have any ideas how I might repair my current one? I had thought of having a bead of weld run across it and then grinding it down to minimize the unbalance. However I am unsure if the heat will melt the rubber boot.
Another option would be to use some sort of epoxy. Not too sure about this.
As a last resort I could use a large hose clamp with a piece of rubber over the hole.
Notice how my ideas get progressively worse.
Any thoughts or advice are appreciated.
Thanks
Ryan

Yeah I am considering a complete used shaft assembly. However, If I can save some money, why not? I don't see any sense of scrapping my other wise good shaft over something so small. Especially since it retails for $783 from Majestic Honda.
I am inclined to try a repair. What is the worst that could happen? The grease leaks out and makes a mess. Since I would be inspecting it periodically if I see grease splatter then I would either repair again, or replace entirely.

That sucks
I would try the epoxy thing, clean everything very well then apply. I had a good used shaft but, just let it go
The worse that can happen is that it does not work and you have to find a good used one.
Good luck
