Help...I was pulling my differential tonight and had it already to go. But when I went to pull my half shafts (I guess thats the right terminology), I couldn't get them out. The would pull about 3" and stop.

Do I have to lower the diff first. Whats the technique. I just stopped and decided to ask before screwing up.

 

Remove the outer parts of half-shafts from the rear knukles first (need to pull lower ball joints out), they they should come out no problem.

 

Is there a clip inside that holds the inner shaft retained?
Can I access this instead?

 

You need to pop the joint on the inside of your wheel. Theres a DIY thread with pictures somwhere

 

It can be done without removing the shaft....If you roll and turn the rear a little you can pop out the shaft. Once one is out the other will be easy
