Before you do anything, I strongly recommend getting the Helms manual. It very clearly goes step by step through the removal process. I recently removed my engine and found the manual to be clear, comprehensive and very easy to follow. Also listed are and special tools you may need. Another nice trick is to use electricians number tape to mark all connections. Numbered 0-9 you just pull off a couple of inches and wrap the hose or electrical connection on both sides which will help with reinstallation. Also, take pictures.

Good luck!

Hey Guys, thanks for the help. Got started pulling the engine last night at 5pm had it in the air at 10. My buddy and I pulled it out, we both turned wrenches for a living when we were in undergrad so this wasnt our first engine job, first S2000 thought Got it on an engine stand now had to get to sleep for work today Im gonna pull the head off tonight and see whats going on in there and most likely break the engine down to the block to take to the machine shop. Ill keep everyone posted on the rebuild, trying to get a strategy down for 500whp that wont blow my engine...again.... for as cheap as possible.

So to take out the engine from top, would it be better/easier to remove the transmission first, or just to unbolt it?
