Default Question about the car from underneath

I have a question. I jacked up my car today and when I got underneath I noticed the metal bar running from wheel to wheel and between the tranny and the metalic piece labeled engine oil. What is this bar? Is it mobile or stationary? It seems like its just a support bar, but I am not sure.

Thanks for the help.

Tubular? The only wheel to wheel I know is the anti-roll bar.

Are you looking at the sub frame?

Yes tubular (round in shape with one empty wholes on either end facing down). It falls right between the start of the tranny and the piece labeled 'engine oil'. Connects to two bolts on either end - would a pic help?

In the picture above the piece I am talking about is in the vicinity of where the blue bar is which runs from left to right and appears to sit right in front of the tranny; the blue bar could be masking it OR it could be replacing it in the photo (I believe this is more likely); not sure.

That's the engine mount stiffener, which bolts to the front subframe via 2 bolts on either end. It is a support bar, and it is not mobile.

You can't see it in the above pic.
