I found my problem last night.
The wire leading to this light is used in AP1 clusters for the charge system indicator.
It is plugged into the AP2 cluster connector but not powered. it's connected to this light.

 

Any way to turn it into a shift light?

 

nice idea - but i think that "look-wise" it's not going to be effective as this light sits even lover than revs gauge....
