Quick comptech supercharger question
I am installing the supercharger right now and I have a VAFC for it.
Do I still need to put in the ESM module with it?
I seems as though the VAFC will do the same thing as the module.
Thanks,
James

I know with vortech, you need all the electrical stuff that came with the kit. The vafc is an add on, not an either or. So I would say that you need to use both. I am not to familiar with the comptech kit but I am guessing that the box they gave you adjusts timming, and the vafc adjust air/fuel.
My understanding is that yes, you need to install the ESM. From what I remember, it only serves to prevent the ECU from seeing boost from the MAP sensor.
My VAFC is hooked up after the ESM (with the VAFC closer to the ECU than the ESM)... running it the opposite way could have unpredictable results.

The unpredictable result would be like heavy bogging and hesitation when past part throttle.
Almost like hitting the rev-limiter and lots of bucking.
I had to live with that until my order of ESM came after my check valve version failed to work properly.
So as others have said, ESM is very essential part that cannot be left out.
The order is Mapsensor->ESM->Ecu->VAFC.
