Default Quick how to on checking compression?

Are these the steps I need to take to check my compression?

-Run the car till it gets to normal operating temp

-pull my plugs and wires

-Im not sure which fuel fuse to pull??

-do I start with the tester in the first whole towards the front or rear?

-then when treated in crank over the car WOT a couple times till the number doent go up

If someone can tell me if this is the right way and answer those two questions id appriciate it.

Thanks

connect battery charger (if you have one)
pull fuel pump fuse
pull coils
pull plugs
thread in comp tester doesnt matter where you start
press throttle to floor
crank until gauge stops rising

Don't take this personal, but if you're questioning your abilities to do a compression check, you probably shouldn't be doing it, or at least have someone with you that knows how to do it. Follow the instructions to a T via the provided link and you should be perfectly fine though.

To add to excellent info above...

Make sure your battery is fully charged. Otherwise it can get weak from the cranking and give invalid (low) results as you proceed.

You crank until the gauge does not keep increasing.

If you have a dbw car, you'll need to prop open the throttle, not use the pedal to wot the throttle body.

If your situation is you are an experienced diy mechanic, but just haven't done a compression test before, you should be good to go. If this is going to be one of your first more advanced tasks, get help to guide you.
