Default quick question lol

Hey guys I just picked up a nice socket set , stanley proffessional black chrome socket set, just wondering if the tools are supposed to be a bit oily out of the box? Or I might have someone elses return lol. I hope I dont have to go exchange it.

I've seen that done with exposed steel tools made in China, where they get a coat of oil to survive the trip here from China without rusting. I don't see the need to do that on black Chrome. You likely got a returned product or a quart of oil spilled on the set while it was in a wharehouse somewhere. If the tools don't have any wear marks just give them a dose of spray nine and they'll be fine, otherwise take them back and let the store worry about it.

FWIW, I got a new craftsman socket set a few months ago, and everything had a tiny tiny bit of oil on it. It was really light colored, pretty much clear.

I didn't think anything of it.

my Husky Pro set (rebranded Black Chrome Stanley) did not have much oil on it. there was a fine residue on some of the tools but none of them were oily.
