Quickest, easiest way to drop transmission

Default Quickest, easiest way to drop transmission

what is the quickest way to drop the transmission to replace my clutch and flywheel? can i do it without dropping the engine?

Get a service manual it is your best friend follow to the letter the instructions, there is no easy way around a clutch job. There are a few short cuts but, that is for those that have done this job a few times and find them on there own. You have to drop the sub frame about 3" to remove the transmission.

gahhhh i have the service manual but i was wondering if there was an easier way than that...

It is a suck job If you have a lift it is a little better






If you have a little paper dude to help you out, the job is easy,. If you have your old lady hanging around watch out because, they will try to cut in on you action

LOL! made me feel alot better about the install puddydad

actually, my mom usually is around and asks me about every 5 minutes why i'm doing this when i should be doing my [nonexistent] homework.

OH! i also bought a new TOB guide because i have the problem that another member found was due to the lack of grease on the TOB guide. so if anyone can give me any tips on that, it'd be appreciated

Its not soo bad my friends and i have it down to about 2 and a half hours
clutch and flywheel
swivel ratchet wrenches are your best friend get some the job will be easier
and we did it all on jack stands


Actually if you have a AP1 then buy some drive shaft bolts first trust me

^^are the driveshaft bolts that easy to mess up?

Yes the AP1 driveshaft bolts are small compared to the AP2 that when you put a hex wrench on it and turn it to loosen it, it will strip
UNLESS you use a breaker bar on that same wrench for more leverage
Please dont grind off the bolts with a grinder you might cut your drive shaft
