hi all,

last night my CEL came on right wen i pulled into my driveway after work at around 11:30. it was just a normal drive home. the roads were wet so i was driving pretty slow considering i've almost no tread let on my rears. nothing about the whole day was out of the ordinary with the car til i got home and the light comes on. i cant think of ANYTHING that could have caused it.

wut exactly makes the CEL come on with our cars?

i have about 55k miles and my mods are injen cai and invidia exhaust. if anyone can give me any ideas about why the CEL went on i would greatly appreciate it! thanks...

There are hundreds of causes for the CEL. You need to have the code pulled, or take it to a shop to be diagnosed. It could be any number of problems. Some big, some small.

 

how do i get the code pulled?

 

Many auto part stores will pull the code for free with their OBDII scan tool. If you have an Autozone nearby, that would be the 1st place to try.

 

i'll go get the code pulled either today or tomorrow morning. what can i do with the code after i get it?

first off check your gas cap, i through up a cel on my way to work one morning and i hooked it up to our diag machine, it was just an evap leak. when i bought the car the gas cap was bad so i just went to honda and bought a new one. havent had problems since.

 

Check your gas cap, mine says right on it that if you don't tighten it properly it'll throw a CEL. So take it off and make sure you screw it on well. Good luck
