Thanks man. I already checked out the thread for compression test. I'll get that done. I think my dad is going to help me pay for the repair, so we might have a mechanic take a look at it.

Don't do a compression test without oil! What are you thinking! If you don't know what your doing I would just take it to a mechanic before you mess something else up. Be very careful and re read the DIY several times.

Ha. That's why I asked before doing it. I figured that since the engine is only turning over like 20 times total during the test, it wouldn't matter. I guess i'm glad I asked.

You need professional help to solve this problem. I'll say what others are thinking: You do NOT have the mechanical skills to take on this problem alone! Trying to fix this engine by yourself will only make your problems worse and result in a much higher repair bill.

Either pay someone to do the work, or better; Find someone to do the work, with you working with them ALL THE TIME. This should save you some money, and more importantly, you'll learn alot about working on your car, which is 'priceless'.

Seriously, from your comments you do NOT have the technical know how to do this.

Quit screwing with compression tests.

You have cracked retainers, compression test won't help with that. If you have bent valves you need a machine shop.

Seriously, you think $500 is expensive keep going down the route your traveling and have to pay $5000+ for a new motor.

Look, I'm gonna lay it down for ya. What you have to do, is take the cylinder head apart, you have to be catious and remember where things go. Here's a link that's very helpful nontheless.

http://www.modified.com/projectcars/0610sc...0/photo_09.html

From there, if you haven't order the parts already, do so. You'll probably need all 16 valves to play it safe, as well as AP2 retainers and keepers, gaskets, perhaps your timing chain (can someone confirm this?) Take it to a machine shop, as they have the necessary tools to to perform this task.

From there, it's a betch! Now you have to assemble what you disassembled, and time your car. Timing your car is a pain in the ass, and if you don't know what your doing it's best you hand it over to a mechanic.... Goodluck.

Ha. Alright. Thanks guys. I'm still a teenager so I guess in my mind I can do anything. I'll get professional help. Would you say it'd be ok for me to go ahead and take off the headers and intake manifold then pull the head by myself? I've got the full service manual and I can follow instructions well. It'd cost me a ton more to have to tow my car to a mechanic to do all of this.

Best bet since your pops will help is to not do a thing and let a professional look at, diag, and replace/repair what is needed. GL!

Pay now or pay later, your choice.

Keep the intake manifold on if you pull the head. You'll need two people, one on each side, to lift it off.

I know this doesn't contribute to helping you solve your problem but shouldn't your friend who money shifted your car be picking up the repair tab? He literally just caused you hell! I'd be pissed if my friend didn't offer to pay for the repair bill. Sorry, I just hate it when someone isn't brave enough to step up to the plate he/she is responsible for what had happened.
