Default random problems

So recently the motor was pulled out of the car. It ran fine before it was pulled out. The car went through a make over, a lot of welding was done on the car. The ECU was never takin out. I put the motor back in and hooked everything up and I am having issues.

It wont idle correctly. The fans wont cut on. There is no EPS and the light is one. And the SRS light is on.

It is throwing codes. VTEC system malfunction, Idle air control system failure, Random multiple cylinder misfire.

Now the fans work, I tested them on twelve volts. I also made sure the relays werent bad. It has a new thermostat and the temperature sensor in the radiator is new. And the thermostat is opening

I took the IACV off and gave it a full clean.

Nothing changed. None of this was happening before.

I am sadly thinking a bad ecu due to the welding may have fried it. OPINIONS??

I agree, check your ground bolts and straps. You may be able to swap the ecu with a buddy--I think the tape his key head to your key head trick will allow the car to start with the borrowed ecu, but I'm not sure. Can anyone confirm?

yeah.. it accerd to me today that it only has one ground from the engine to the car.. So I am going to amp it up a bit with a few more good grounds. And I had another s2k over here and pulled his ecu and hooked it up to see if I would get lucky but nope.

Tape key??? Didnt know there where any tricks to get around that. Please explain.

I think its to trick the immobolizer or green key to thinking its the correct ecu matched with the correct ignition key

You don't need more grounds. Just make sure all the stock ones are hooked up. That includes the ones under the motor, and all of the cabin/ sensor grounds.

From the threads that I read the taped keys trick doesn't work on our cars.

anyone by any chance have a diagram or know the cabin grounds?

And the sensor grounds for the harness all go on one bolt on the back of the head?
