Default Real-Time OBD-II Data Viewing/Logging

I purchased the cable and software from OBD-2.com and have yet to figure out the software to get it to display and log real-time data. The software is not very user-friendly and the documentation is worse.

Has anybody used this setup and figured out how to watch timing, AIT, etc. in real-time? Or, if there is another package that will do this, please let me know - this information is critical to getting the most out of my tuning sessions.

TIA

Connect the OBD-2 connector to the receptacle under the dash. Connect the other end to your serial port/USB port (depending on what you ordered). Open the explorer software. Click on "connect" at the top. You will need to enter your software code the first time.

Click on the "status" tab and click update. You should be getting your info at this time. Then go from tab to tab and request the info you want. The "data" tab will give you all your readings in real time. If it doesn't work post again and I'll help you out.

You can also customize the guages to indicate any of the readings you want. This is easy to read when driving with the laptop.

I have done all of this, but my data is coming back in 5-10 second intervals. Any info on how to speed up this would be super
Don't know the answer to that. Mine has about 1 to 2 second delay if you go by speedo or tach readings. The good thing is you can record the session and play it back later. All the readings should be relative to each other. Sorry I couldn't be more help. You might want to contact Utah S2k. He has the same equipment and has done a lot of research

Thank you NASCAR for helping Yellow Streak with this, as I'm next in line for borrowing his OBD-II logger . . . .

You need the "ISO" adapter for imports. The software is universal. I think to do what you want pull up the data tab. At the bottom is a "Sample" button (0.0 hz). Hz is cyclesper second. Plug in your sample speed. Hit the Send button and then pull up the "Dash" tab. You can right click on any gauge and a menu bar will pop up. Select the parameter you wish to monitor using the drop down menu on the left of the bar. Then sit back and watch all the virtual gauges tell you exactly what your car is doing....real time. You can play back any sessions later easily.

Play with this setting and you can decrease the dwell time between samples. Be careful though if you are sampling a lot of parameters in short duration you can load up your hard drive quickly. I know!!

Utah-

I bought the "ISO for Euro, Asian, Chrysler".

Being that I am a software engineer, I am somewhat embarassed by the quality of the software package and documentation - it doesn't bode well for the quality of products my fellow tradesmen are putting out.

Would you be willing to send me some detailed instructions about gateway setup, how to get just a few parameters and how to replay collected data?

Also, is there other software that will work with this cable? Perhaps something that is a little more user-friendly and has better documentation?

I have yet to see the word "frequency" on any tabs in this application.

I really need to get this figured out before I go back to the dyno on Friday. TIA for your help.
