If the hubs are pressed out properly and the bearing inner rings are removed without damaging the hub (I.e. You don't hit the hub with a cut off wheel or you're able to use a clamshell to remove the bearing inner ring) then it is perfectly safe to inspect and reuse the hub.
If the bearing has play it can damage the hub, but you should always inspect for cracks or deformation anyway. The key when pressing the hub into the bearing is to support the inner ring. If the bearing inner ring moves it can score and damage the hub. If the hub is pressed in crooked it can also damage the hub.
