Default Rear brake tick/click

Started hearing this a while back, and I guess I'm just paying more attention to it now. It's not your typical bearing noise when the nuts need retorqued. If the ebrake is set, and you bump/shake the car, you can hear a very quick tick/click from the rear brakes. I don't hear it while I'm driving though.

Usually, when I pull into my garage, and come to a stop while applying the brakes I can hear it. I'm thinking the pads are just very worn and possibly makes these noises inside the caliper?

Not sure about the S, but on my other car the pads would become 'loose' in the caliper as they wear down and slightly slip and click. Also sometimes the anti-squeal shim comes slightly loose from the backing of the pad.

I should be replacing all the pads soon, so we'll see if that fixes it.

That's what I figured. I had my wife sit in the car last night, and had her move around while the ebrake was set. I was able to locate the sound. It isn't actually the brake pad shims, but it was the thin metal pieces that are on the outside of the brake pad(between the outside edge of the pad and caliper). I'm sure I could just apply some grease, and it could go away.

the thin piece of metal that sits between your pad backing and brake piston is commonly known as an "anti-squeal shim". if there is one on the top side of the pad that could be the wear indicator or a spring clip?
