I don't know what the ECU code was, but I do know that Honda had to do additional testing after reading the original code.
The car is my daily driver but being retired I don't normally drive it very much although I am driving it to Linclon, NE on Sunday for the SSCA Solo Nationals.
Yes, I have a spare car to drive. I'll investigate the longblock option, thanks for the suggestion. And I plan on looking for a non-dealer shop to do the work.
Thanks for the thoughts.

No more AP1 engines available from Honda. AP2 engines can still be had new.

If you're going to Lincoln, NE, you should look up this place while you're there. A second opinion can't hurt.

They've only ever done Honda/Acura, and added Toyota/Lexus a couple of years ago.

I would just rebuild it yourself. Any machien shop engine rebuilder should be able to do the work. Find one you trust.

If you are just swapping the quote for rebuilt short block from oem did not sound that bad. Do they want core?

What about sleeving the cylinders and replacing the pistons? I dont hear too much on that topic. I would look at that as well.
