Default Recommended scan tool or software???

Okay I know this has been kicked around alot but as far as scan tools or software for reading error codes what does everyone recommend? I'm more focused on software or tool that focuses more on the error codes/repairs than the peformance software that is out there. What does everyone think?

i use www.obd-2.com which is good for pulling OBD-2 codes and resetting the CEL. I haven't been able to get it to monitor the guages on the software's realtime display, however. Also some of the troubleshooting in the Helm's manual requires you to monitor the voltage with an OBD-2 scantool and obd-2.com doesn't do this.

The AutoXray 6000 is hard to beat for ease of use and coverage. It is expensive- $500, but I can pull real time info, store it, and DL it to my PC later. I have lots of readings of the S2000's Intake air performance. Hint: it does not vary much.
