Default Reducing rotating weight

Man, I think about this car way too much.

Anyways, was thinking about reducing the rotating weight on the car to get better performance. Items that come to mind are:
-flyweel/clutch assembly
-carbon fiber driveshaft (anyone make this?)
-carbon fiber driveaxles?
-brake rotors
-wheels

I think that's about it. Would this make a significant improvement? Maybe significant is too strong of a word here.

simons2k-- flywheel yes, wheels yes, carb. fib driveshaft or axles, I don't think anyone makes them and prob would be unsafe. Brake rotors...ehhh, poss, not so much. But the most significant/noticable gain(s) would be from the flywheel because of the way the car is going to "behave" on its way to redline. The second would be from the wheels, most likely because you're prob gonna get bigger/wider, and that'll increase grip (more so if you get sticky tires)... that's about it.. hope it helps, have fun..

GTEF8, thanks for your input. I found out that Spoon makes a driveshaft for the S. Carbon fiber? Dunno, but I know it is better balanced for rotation. As far as carbon fiber being unsafe, I think if designed correctly it shouldn't be. The new 350z uses a carbon fiber driveshaft.

What kind of flywheel is lightest/best for the S?

If you reduce the rotating weight too much, the car may have a hard time starting from a stop and the rpms may drop out of vtec when shifting at redline. Toda and spoon both have lightweight flywheels but I don't have any impressions to relay.

Good luck and keep us posted if you go this route.

9000RED, define starting from a stop. Do you mean clutch dropping or just normal driving "starting from a stop"

I don't track my car nor do I drop my clutch (eh, did it once) If anything it would be to go fast from a roll.

I won't be doing this anytime soon. Just part of my "to do" or would like to do list.

simmons2K- you might want to look at Rick's aluminum pulleys.

toda makes i think two (2) different flywheels.. damn light and super damn light. I'm sure other companies do the same, just check around for quality and construction---ask around would be the safer way... and 9000RED is right....too light would prob take it out of vtec (more gearing related though).. Remember, it'll be fast going up, and it'll be fast coming down. And probably, you might have to "slip" the clutch more....--It happened with my crx, super fast to redline and superfast back down. And geez, the first week w/a light flywheel..RRRRRRrrRrRRRrrrrrrrrrr...(shift).
