Default Remove key cylinder

Question, if I removed the lock cylinder(replace with a kill switch), do I have to reprogram anything if I swap the ECU?

Why would you want to do that??? The keys already have a chip in them.

Perhaps for some other method of engine starting: biometric, proximity key, etc.

My guess is he wants to pull the key cylinder and install another type of driver verification so he can get in, push start, then hit stop when he wants and never need a key.

The key cylinder has nothing to do with the ECU. It is a physical lock. If you remove the housing that the cylinder fits into, you will see the electronics. Change that, reprogram. Remove it, No Go.

This is one of the reasons I went EMS on my race car. There was no way to remove the extra junk (Emissions) and use the stock ECU without a CEL.
