Removing AIR pump???
This thread brings back my questions about OBDII. I ordered an OBDII cable and software only to discover that Aus S2000s don't have OBDII.
Can't tell you how long I spent looking for that connector.
As our ECUs are interchangable and we have generally the same sensors and emmissions devices what is missing in an Aus S2000 for OBDII? Is it just the connector? Does the connector wire directly into the ECU or to some OBDII controller box that then plugs into the ECU and other sensors?

i think your ECU is interchangable with a US ECU, i think the only thing you are missing is the OBD-2 port. I think non-US S2000's have a different port so that honda techs can connect service equipment to reprogram the immobilizer and such, its just a little different from the OBD-2 port. I think all of your sensors and emission stuff is basically the same. I do have the european helm manual on cd which has the european S2000 emissions chapter, but I haven't looked at it and compared it to whats in the USA helm manual.
there are a few minor difference in the ecu
I checked before I ordered my AEM ems 1/2 a year ago. There are around 2 or 3 pins difference, these pins are for the emission purpose only. So the US and AUS ecu MAY not be interchangeable without the CEL problem.

You hit the nail on the head. It is hot and humid here in the summer, and the way the Mugen handles the knock sensor is a concern. That, and the fact that the knock resistance of our fuels here goes down in the winder, even though the fuel still has the same octane rating. All 92 octane fuel is NOT the same, and the stock ECU and knock sensor provides some protection when the gas isn't up to snuff. If you can make it through the summer down there in Florida without having any problems I'll feel more comfortable about putting the Mugen unit in my own car. If you haven't had any problems by the end of July then it's probably safe to assume that no one will have any issues using the Mugen on a stock street car. BTW, what other mods to do you have?
Speedracer: Good info. Where did you find diagnostic flowcharts?
We could also make a "dummy load" using nichrome wire.
Cdelena: One of us (you or me) is confused about what OBD is and does. It stands for OnBoard Diagnostics, and the Mugen ECU does NOT support the OBD 2 codes. However, it DOES read both the O2 sensors. Racers have no need for the OBD interface. BTW, OBD 2 is actually a intranet in the car that carries signals to the OBD 2 connector on the passengers side of the vehicle under the dash. Has nothing to do with the cars performance, just diagnostics. I'm sure someone will correct me if I have any of that wrong.
Thanks guys, you've all provided useful info. I found a used pump to use for now, and if the Mugen works OK in Florida through July, that's probably the way I'll go.
Thanks to all,
RED

I just removed the air pump and associated hoses, valves, etc. Anyone know where to get a block off plate for manifold?
