Replacing Timing Chain/tensioner
MY01 S2000 sees hard driving on a regular basis. In the back of my head Im starting to worry about the following items. Smaller AP1 Banjo bolts, weak AP1 retainers, soft valve springs, ageing timing chain/tensioners. Im concerned most about the timing related items. I was browsing through the Honda book in the maintenance chapter and not once does it tell you to replace the chain/tensioners. Why is that? Im just scratching my head a bit about it because wouldnt you want to replace the chain at least once during ownership? Maybe I missed it in the book?
Im not over 100K miles, but some of these things are worrying me. Like I said I drive my car hard and this year Ill be pushing the limits even more with the AEM EMS and added boost. All of these little things are in the back of my head telling me to upgrade/update...
Anyways, back on track, did I miss it in the book? Any input on this guys/girls?

Timing chain is supposed to last the life of the car! As far as the tensioner goes there is no telling! Some go out after 30K or earlier and some last a lot longer! You can tell if yours is going bad just by listening to your motor! If u are planning on going boost then i would def replace the banjos Or even if u push your car hard on a daily basis i would replace them. As far as the valve springs and retainers I would say it never hurts to upgrade! I have 117K on my motor and its all still stock and have no problems as of right now! I would recommend a valve adjustment if it hasent been done recently!
