Default Help with roll hoops

I had some work done on my car a couple of weeks ago and appearently for some reason they had to remove the plastic pieces that go around the roll bars. I just noticed today when I put my top down that there is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch gap between the two plastic pieces at the very top... I tried squeezing them hoping they would "pop" back together and stick but they are not. Is there any way that they click together or special clips or is it likely that the body shop it was at broke them and the only way to fix is via replacement?

Thanks in advance

The plastic is NOT supposed to come apart. There is no reason to take the plastic off the roll hoops. They unbolt as a total unit if you need to remove them.

Who did the work and what was being done? Unless you were putting a roll bar in the car, there is no reason for the roll hoop covers to be separated. You might have some luck trying to epoxy them together, but for the most part, once you break them apart, it's game over. I have a couple zip ties holding mine together (roll bar install).

Demand a replacement. It's their fault.

They'll never go back together as they were. Sorry to break the news

just tie a few shoe strings around them really tight. then superglue them and they will look and stay just as good as new ones.

there are several different kinds of epoxy that work well on plastic that will hold them together just fine. they're plastic welded from the factory, but i know several people that have glued them back together no problem

If you look closely you'll notice one side has a lip that goes into like a fold on the other piece. If you put some crazy glue into the fold and then press the lip into it, then take a vice or clamp or something to hold it together it should look like nothing happened.

Just this weekend I used this:

http://www.permatex.com/products/Automotiv...er_Glue_Gel.htm

I held it by hand for the 30 seconds it says on the box, released and it held and looked perfect. Just to be safe I put a C clamp on and touched up the sides.

if its the body shops fault or whoever was working on the car why not get them to replace them if its their fault.
