Default required upgrades before SC?

I'm debating on getting a SC this summer, and wondering if there are any upgrades that would be required or recommended before I have one put in. I am on a bit of a budget, but I don't want to save money and get something poor quality. So if it looks like I will have to burn a hole in my wallet, then I may just get a CAI instead or hold off until summer '05.

i would get a clutch because i put my supercharger on at about 15000 miles worked great for a little bit then started slipping after about 2000 miles upgraded to a ACT and was a big difference. also they say to upgrade the diff, but i have not yet. colder plugs are nice to i got the densio irdians IK24. runs smoother. thermostat and fan switch is good to. other than that, i don't think you would need anything else besides the basics H/E, gauges, and noticed a difference with a spoon test pipe also

there is a lot you can do to make it run smoother, better, and cooler

I too upgraded to an ACT, as well as a lightweight flywheel. Vortech even states in its manual to upgrade your clutch, although I have read about a few owners on this site running the OEM clutch under FI w/out slippage. I would recommend 1 step colder plugs (like the Denso's or NGK's) and a better flowing exhaust + header, although these are not "must haves." Gauges are also wise. And a reinforced diff is critical if you are going to be launching the car (unless you're mayhan or xviper).

The reinforced diff. housing will definitely help. The clutch too.

since the clutch is a wear item (and an expensive one, at that), you might as well keep using the OEM clutch until it starts to slip, and only then replace it with an ACT.

therefore, IMHO upgrading the clutch before installing the SC (as per your title) seems to me to be a waste of $.

I am still running the stock clutch and diff housing with about 6k on the SC (16k on the car).

They are pretty plug and play. Colder plugs with the proper gap will help and is inexpensive. Header and exhaust, debatable. Tires and wheels could help.

The only thing I can recommend is a V1.

Do a search on installing a new clutch after the SC. It ain't easy. The money spent for me was well worth it.

agree with the clutch debate above. wait on that. here's my priority list of items when i decided i was going FI:

1. IK24 plugs (i'm in az so heat's a factor for me)
2. reinforced diff
3. aftercooler
4. gauges (i went oil pressure and boost)
5. exhaust
6. header

and here's the order i'd suggest if you did do all of the above:

1. exhaust
2. header
3. plugs
4. sc
5. gauges
6. aftercooler
7. reinforced diff (i'm going to shop for this along with a 4.57 gear change)
8. vafc (cuz of ESM from SC requires slightly different wiring)

not sure if any of this helps, but there's a lot involved including many, many hours under the hood.
