Default Retarding ignition timing w/ CKP sensor

Hi there Im getting ready to have my nitrous install completed really soon and want to run a 75 shot. The safest way to do it would be to retard the ignition timing by a few degress and I was wondering if anybody has ever used the CKP (crank position) sensor to retard the timing? My friend has a rb20 in his 240sx and he said he uses his crank angle sensor to retard his timing since he has coil packs as well and I was wondering if we can adjust our CKP sensor to retard the timing? Im pretty sure they're the same thing with different names but not sure if we can adjust ours in any way. Thanks for the help guys.

There is no way to mechanically retard the CKP sensor like your buddy's RB20. The use different kind of sensors. The S2k's CKP sensor uses a reluctor wheel that slips over the crank snout. Then has a pickup than bolts through the chain case. If you try and mechanically slot the reluctor it will barely start, if it does. (not to mention the huge amount of work you'd be doing to break your car) The PCM uses CKP and TDC signals at startup to sync injector and coil firing.

You can use a Split second FTC1 which intercepts the CKP signal and can retard the timing electronically.
