Default Revving Issue

As the title states, I got off of work today and hit it all the way up to about 7k~ish before it felt like it was hitting the rev limiter. I shifted into second shortly after, but I was wondering what was going on. I bounce off the rev limiter in first a couple times before, but that's about it. Never mis-shifted down into a gear with the car, but all of a sudden it wants to bounce off 7k and not go to 8k. Anything wrong with the car or maybe it's a failsafe to protect the car when the engine isn't warmed up?

I'm going to try again and see if it bounces off 7k, this has happened twice already.

Appreciate the responses, and yes it is definitely an idiot driver issue. I think my first mistake was trying to get out fast, my normal habit is to let it idle for a minute. Good to know that it's stopping me from being idiotic, lol!

Thanks again.

What up playas

I'm having some problems with my driver. He seems like a nice enough guy and I like him, but lately he's been stressing me out. The guy has been trying to redline me without giving me time to reach operating temperature. I hit the fuel-cut so I don't get hurt. I thought he got the message after the first incident but then he did it AGAIN. I was like WTF?! One more time, and I'm throwing a CEL. Maybe something bogus like a random misfire code to get him to do some research on how to treat me when I'm cold. Hope he isn't like this with his woman! You can't just throw it in raw and start pumping.

Anyway, have any of you other guys experienced this? How did you get the driver to wise up?
