Theoretically, it should be about 10%.

Is the Kazz noisy? & Where did you get the comptech goods? This is my next major upgrade and I think I will do the Exedy clutch that I already have at the same time. I think that makes sense with the Exedy having such a grip! Phil

I'll chime in on this one because I don't think it's correct. The statement would be correct assuming that you're in the same gear, but you will likely be in a higher gear at certain points which would actually reduce rpm. For example, if you are trying to go 0-60 as fast as you can with the stock differencial, then you can hit 60mph in 2nd gear. With the 4.44 differencial, you will be in 3rd gear when you hit 60mph at a lower rpm. I don't know how this effects the other items that were listed.

YS,

I apologize. I am not trying to argue with you. I am really just interested in a discussion on this topic. I have been thinking about doing the 4.44 gears for quite some time, and fuel economy has been a major part of it. I realize that my posts can come across as argumentative, but I am just an engineer with too much free time at work. Although I excelled in Engineering Physics in school, I really don't have much self regard for my "automotive technical prowess". Most of what I know about cars has come from snooping around S2KI.

In regards to the drivetrain loss, I can't provide any more proof than I already have. I have dyno'ed my car in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears. My highest numbers came from 5th, and my lowest came from 3rd. UL once posted that this has some to do with additional drivetrain loss of the gearing (small in his opinion), but more to do with load time. The shorter the load time, the more the moment of inertia of the accelerated drivetrain will skew the numbers downward. I feel pretty confident that UL would agree that the 4.44 gears would show lower numbers (to some extent) on a Dynojet than the same car with 4.10 gears. I may be wrong about the Mustang dynos, since I don't really know anything about them.

The main difference between a Dynojet and a Mustang Dyno is the fact that the mustang Dyno also puts a load on the car has it spins the rollers. The faster the rollers spin the load will increase. The load will vary due to weight of the car and hp@50mph. This load is applied to simulate the car going down the road. I have dyno'd S2000's in 3rd, 4th, and 5th. 4th gear on a mustang dyno shows the highest hp#s.

Perhaps slightly off topic, but exactly what did you get cryo treated? Just the ring and pinion?
