Actually, I was thinking of swapping the lower 1st and 2nd gears from the 04 in the tranny and then doing the 4.44 swap.

So, you'd get maybe a 4.6 or so in first and second and then have the regular 4.44 ratio through the rest.

Assuming that the '04 tranny is identical to the current tranny except for gear ratios, you would probably have to swap more than just 1st and 2nd, since there are multiple gears on one shaft.

I would be surprised if the '04 tranny and diff are the same as the current one. More torque combined with a lower 1st gear would put significantly more stress on both of them.

We will have news on the 4.44 gears no later than September 12. If all goes well, it will be very, very exciting news. In the meantime, the 4.77s are in stock.

How exciting will this announcement be? I'm thinking about placing my order for the 4.77. Should I wait? Will the announcement make me wanna choose the 4.44 over the 4.77?

ie:

4.77= $595
4.44=$99.00 shipped.
