Rough shifting into second
[QUOTE]Has this always happened or just recently?
I bought it used in spring. This is the first cold weather I have experienced with it. I never noticed this till winter. If I am really careful I can reduce the crunchiness on the 1-2 shift.

I hear it more of a crunch rather than a grind. I've done a search on this subject as temps dropped to near and below freezing. Many other have experienced this with a cold transmission, and thus deemed it "normal". Others mentioned changing fluid to help remedy this annoyance.
I will try double clutching on the up shift to see if this helps, but still plan on doing the transmission oil change.
Since the transmission will be warmed up to operating temperature by the time you get to the dealer, they won't experience this problem.
The suggestions that I found from the serach was generally take it easy on all the shifts. It requires very little force to change gears. On the 3-4 change I can use one finger and pull it down into 4th, even on a cold 27deg.F transmission.

I'm thinking that this is attributed to the increase of synco cones on 2nd.
I tried Honda MTF and it didn't change a thing, only have 23K on it, i'm thinking I will try the *NEW* honda mtf and if that doesn't cure it then GMSFM/Amsoil.
every other gear is smooth as silk

iDomN8U: You need to wait a few hundred miles after the transmission oil change to feel the effects of the new oil. Another member told me recently that this is attributed to the porous texture of the carbon-fiber synchros, not sure how that applies to AP1s.
I always grinded in 2nd.
But Bill hooked me up and now it's more of a notch.
Did fluid change in Tranny(new Honda)
Fluid change in Diff(607).
Clutch fluid exhange.
Clutch pedal adjustment.
You still have to take it easy shifting though.

(I always felt that the clutch should be a touch more depressed/more release then what the factory has it at)

Was it the Clutch pedal Adjustment that help fix the grind?

My car felt the way you describe since day 1.
After the pedal adjustment, it's a completely different clutch feel.
Like day and night.
