The current Honda MTF is vastly improved over the formulation available back when this review was originally done. The new Honda MTF is the best tranny oil I've used to date.

I actually planned to mix a bottle of AMSOIL MTF and a bottle of their MTG. Since the viscosity of MTF 5W30/75W80 was on the thin side, I thought the MTG 10W40/75W90 would bring the overall viscosity up to 10W30/75W85. This is what Honda specs for our tranny. I'm pretty sure that Slipstream444 uses MTG exclusively and loves it.
I have not tried Redline MTL though either.
Anyways, hopefully the new Honda MTF will be the holy grail!

I've had the best overall results with Amsoil MTF. Honda MTF is smoother when cold, but I have had a number 1-2 grinds in the heat of the summer (even after all the other fixes have been done - to include clutch bleed and Billman clutch pedal adjustment). The new Honda MTF lasts a little longer than the old version, however I have to change it out at least every engine oil change - which gets to be a little annoying and expensive, as it's actually about the same price as Amsoil MTF. Amsoil MTF lasts at least three times as long (I change it out every three engine oil changes or ~9,000-15,000, if it needs it or not).
Amsoil MTF is a little notchy when cold, but only requires a couple more double clutches than Honda MTF until warm. After it's all warmed up - nothing has been as good to date - to include Redline MTL, GMSMFM, and Honda MTF.
Amsoil MTF is actually one of the cheapest of all the above listed products as well. I've been able to get Honda MTF a couple pennies cheaper when I've bought in bulk - otherwise it's about the same price or a few pennies more.
I'll report on Amsoil MTG (in the heat of the summer)... in a separate post.

Well for what it's worth. I got half a gallon of the SF MTL-P from a S2k member, and have been running it for about 10K and it seems to be a little better all around than anything I have used so far, and its still working good.. but its gone forever now, so im gonna try the amsoil next.

indymac, hows the new honda MTL holding up? still trying to decide which tranny fluid.
Remember to shake the bottles of MTF a little before filling the tranny. The pink additives sit at the bottom of the bottle.
