Rumbling/knocking on overrun
Really struggling to find a related topic (or I'm searching for the wrong problem)
While retarding from above 3000 rpm and turning left (e.g. Approaching a UK roundabout) I get a rumbling noise that is synchronous with the engine speed. It can only be felt with the engine under load.
I am trying to keep the description simple as to not confuse anyone as it's quite tricky to explain.
Is this the 'clutch buzz' I have read about? The only problem I can think it could be so far is a buggered engine mount. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I know when I am driving my gear sticks all over the place with movement but accept that partly (or mostly) to be associated with the suspension stiffness of the BC coil overs paired with the 18" 40 profile XL tyres transferring a lot of the road through the chassis.
Any help greatly appreciated. Can't tell looking into the engine bay if the mounts are shagged or not. Externally they look used but not in pieces.
Cheers
Earl.

When you say under load and synchronous with engine speed, do you mean that the rumbling ONLY occurs when the transmission is engaged (clutch depressed)? If so, listen to the origins of the rumble if it is indeed from the engine compartment or if it is from behind you. I had rumbling from the differential in a former S2000 I owned as a result of the axle cups being warped (previous owner lowered the car over 3 inches).
