rumbling sound/feel
My original clutch went out about 1500-2000 miles or so ago, and I went with an aftermarket clutch and just had the flywheel resurfaced. My car is MY01, has about 63k on it now. The newer clutch that was put in is a competition stage 2.
When I first got the car back it was fine. Obviously the clutch was a bit lighter, and grabbed quicker, and it took some getting used to, but the car drove fine, no rumbles, nothing weird.
About 300 miles or so ago I've noticed a "rumbling/shaking" sound/feeling throughout the whole car, ONLY when I really get on it, and the car is under load. If I'm on it, and then put the car in neutral the rumbling/shaking goes away immediatly.
A friend of mine works at a Honda Dealership and threw it up on the lift, took it out for a test drive, checked everything he could think of. He even had the master tech take a look. They said it has to be the clutch, and that I should take it back to the place I got it installed.
I then took the car back to the place I got the clutch installed (a reputable performance shop). I had them change all fluids as it was needed anyways, and they checked out a variety of other things trying to figure out the rumbling. They said they couldn't figure it out, and the guy who test drove my car said he didn't feel anything unusual, didn't feel any rumbling/shaking. Now they didn't take out the trans and look at the clutch, they said if it gets bad bring it back and pulling it out and looking at it would be the next step.
The thing is, my car didn't "rumble/shake" when I first got the car back with the new clutch. It has somehow aquired this...
Has anyone had this effect after installing an aftermarket clutch? It doesn't really bother me too much, although the car rode much smoother. I really like the feel/grabbiness of the clutch, but I'm afraid if it is a problem with the clutch, it will get worse and screw up other parts of my car.
thanks for any input.

Does it feel like the clutch is slipping? if its not slipping tis not the clutch. if its slipping more likely than not they got grease/oil on the PP when they resurfaced it - or when they instaleld the clutch.
if its not slipping, it could be other stuff - driveshaft? maybe its unbalanced now- but this would be rumbley/vibrating all the time, not just when you get on it....

It's definantly not the driveshaft. I had that checked out at Honda.
And the clutch isn't slipping, it grabs really hard.
I'm just questioning how everything was put together? It did not feel/sound like this before on the oem clutch.
I'm just wondering if anyone has had this happen after installing an aftermarket clutch, especially competition. is this common?

"Resurfacing the flywheel is not recomended"(quote from repair manual). A unbalanced or badly resurfaced flywheel will cause vibration and noise. My guess is the flywheel wasn't resurfaced correctly.Just my .02.

I have the same clutch as yours.
Mine is also rumbling, which is some kind of vibrating within the transmission area.
I think it what the competition stage 2 clutch is all about. I also heard other after market clutch will do similar rumbling/ vibrating. I am not sure why...
Otherwise, you may have to go back to OEM clutch.
