I have a MY 00 and noticed that a plastic bar above my back window has started to come off. Its covered in rubber and glued on, but my brother in law's MY01 doesn't have the same bar, does anyone know what it does? can i just pull it off? or re glue it? here are some pics of what i'm talking about





the white plastic doesn't actually attach, its surrounded by the rubber part thats glued on as you can see

Hmmmm, I don't remember if mine had it or not. Its been a long time and I'm on my 4th top (canvas/glass conversion). I'd say to just silicone glue it back into place. See if that'll hold it.

Original owner? Any chance the window may have been replaced and this is an aftermarket fix?

 

I have a similar problem with my 2001 top. The bar has begun to come lose from the top fabric on the passenger side. Does anyone have an idea of what function the bar serves? What is the worst thing that could happen if it comes off completely?
