running lean?
Alright I've noticed recently that my car has been starting awkwardly (turning over a couple times before starting or struggling to start) but drives fine and cleanly, no cels or anything abnormal.
I plugged in my little bluetooth scan tool and reading the vacuum pressure everything appears normal (-18 to -21 )
My afr seems to be running the car a little lean idling 14.8/1 accelerating anywhere between 14.5 - 15.25/1. This is a recent occurance, the car used to always run at 13.8/1 consistently.
Thoughts? Drives fine but the starting issue has been thrown... if its normal so-be-it.
Stats: 06 (dbw)
Miles 66,200
Mods: stock engine, K&n drop in filter, test pipe, competition stg2 clutch, oem ap1 flywheel.
Temps have been fluctuating here in sc lately between 30f and 80f from week to week.
Thoughts? Thanks everybody!

you can also reset your ECU and do the idle relearn process it will help POSSIBLY, or just wait it out mine starts perfectly now since its been cold in my area lately.
Love posts with plenty of relevant information.....
Assuming your base AF number was with the KN installed I move to your enviromental comment. The temp range you note is pretty good. OBDII uses two fuel trim systems; long term and short term fuel trim(LTFT & STFT). In short the car compares it's recent environment STFT with it's longer term map. If you have large temp ( or elevation) swings the ECU can recognize an AF ratio imbalance and make adjustments. I would give it a week or two until the system learns. The air pump provides air boost during cold starts. Keeps the car running lean for pollution control. If the car doesn't settle out look to the air pump. If your BT OBDII checks "pending" codes see if anything is there.

Also forgot to mention that the car will "cruise" at exactly 13.86/1 with control on or just pedal cruising. Either way thanks for the response, I'll report back in a bit and if its still running lean will investigate or ecu relearn.
Definately try the ECU idle relearn process it take sno time at all. and will adjust your a/f im pretty sure.
what I did was:
1. Unplug battery
2. Grab a beer and wait 5 mins
3. plug it back up
4. start the car
5. grab another beer wait 10-15 mins while it idles (dont touch gas pedal)
6. go drive (just not drunk)

P.S. I recall cruise references off LTFT which may be why your seeing the "normal" AF in cruise.
