S2000 engine blew what do I do
Yo guys, so i recieved unfortanate news today ,my car was sounding terrible while i was driving so I had it towed to my shop and found out it had spun a bearing. Ive only had it for a couple of months sine july 2017 and im looking for advice on what i should do. I bought the car for $4500 with 200k on the od as a weekend/ project car. Since owning ive done the usual maintenace and put about 3k in it making in nice(exaust, wheels, coilovers, brakes, ect). It waa clear that it had been somewhat neglected and was using about 1qt of oil every 1000 miles, my guess is the previous owners didnt take that great care of it. Never the less im looking at options on engine replacement, should i just cut my losses and part out the car, get a used ap1 or ap2 engine? Try to find a refurbished engine? Any thoughts welcome.

Definitely wouldnt scrap it. Id get a quote on the rebuild. If your pretty handy with a few buddies, you can take the engine out as an assembly and take it to a good machine shop and have them do the rebuild/ reassemble it. That would save you a chunk of money. If your on a budget, just be careful not to get sucked into the " while im there" mentality. If your on a tight budget especially, if it aint broke dont fix it. Things such as the clutch would make sense if yours has a lot of miles, but if its not in the budget, it will just set the project back. One major problem people run into is tearing it all apart before they have the funds or are ready. My advise would be save up, get as many parts as you can think of, new gaskets, bearings, etc, then take it apart. It becomes much more difficult if you wait months before putting it back together. People lose interest and will just part the car out often which is unfortunate. That all is assuming you pull the engine yourself of coarse. Thats a smoking deal on an S, hope you decide to fix it.
