Default S2000 Fluids

There are so many threads with no many opinions. It gets easy to get lost on what is approved versus what is opinion or suggested. So i wanted to make a thread where you can list the fluids you use and a brief statement. From there, it is up to the user to PM or goodle/search s2ki on their own.

Template-
MY06 with 77k miles CTSC @ 5lbs
Engine: 10w30 mobile synthetic
Brake: Super blue DOT 4
transmission: HONDA MTF
Diff: Redline 75w90

my experience with fluids is growing. So I look forward to reading your suggestions. My goal is to have all the brands/types of fluid provided in this thread with easy to read/understand style.

current questions i would like answered:

What other transmission fluids are recommended for the spirited driver and 1-2x a year track driver. Motul/Amsoil/GM syncromesh/etc
Why would you run 75w140 in your diff instead of 75w90? will the heavier weight protect your diff better?

Which fluid are you disappointed in so far? mobile synthetic?

I've been comfortable with Castrol Edge with Ti FST, AMSOIL MTF, Duolec LE1605 SAE 110, Valvoline DOT 3/4, and Honda OEM Coolant. I have used and tested most of these for several years. That's why I have no problem recommending them to another S2000 owner.

Good luck to you and enjoy your car.

2002 w/137k
engine: royal purple 10w30 w/k&n oil filter
Tranny: Honda maf
Diff: amsoil 75w90

Noticed my oil burning a bit. Gona change up the set up next time to castrol. I hear alot of good about them. I changed my tranny fluid and didn't feel any difference from what the previous owner put in. Might go amsoil on that next. I went 75w90 amsoil on the diff because they didn't have the 75w110 I wanted and didn't feel like waiting a week or 2 to get in.

Another thread isn't going to help any more than the countless prior threads. Do your research and choose from the options. There are many good fluids out there.

Here is an example of a post that is of no good use. This is why this thread will not work. Congratulations, you are a part of the problem, not the solution

I have done plenty of searching and often do. And i Felt this may prevent someone else from having to do hours of searching if we consolidate the info in one easy flowing thread versus pages and pages of posts like yours.

MY08 with 60k miles
Engine: 0w40, 5w30, 5w40 Liqui Moly synthoil, Redline oil 5w40, Redline Racing oil 40wt with Bosch filter
Brake/Clutch: Motul RBF 660 and 600
transmission: Motul MTF GL-4, Redline MTL
Diff: Motul 75w90 GL-5, Redline 75w90
Coolant: straight water with Redline water wetter half bottle

Had no issue with those set of oils. I do UOA every oil change, and they all hold up very good. I do tracking once or twice a month. change engine oil at every 3000miles, trasmission and diff oil at every other oil change, brake fluid whenever I want.

Warning, Redline racing oil has very little detergent as they stated. you shouldn't use it more than 2000 miles. I UOAed this at 2500miles and the detergent level was about 10% vs 50% from other oil at this mileage.

Also, don't use NAPA or Wix oil filter. They don't do the job.

MY06 with 66,000 km / 39,976 miles
Engine: Amsoil Signature Series 5W-30 OEM Oil Filter
Brake/Clutch: ATE SL6 Super Blue (illegal teehee)
Transmission: Amsoil Manual Transmission & Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90
Diff: Severe Gear® 75W-90
Coolant: OEM Honda 50/50 ratio

My car is my weekend toy and dedicated autocross car which I compete in BS. Reason why I chose Amsoil over others is because after hours of reading oil reviews there wasn't many people that said they did not like Amsoil. Some local guys run it here, so I just jump in when they do group buys.

I closely agree with Themikewoo.For my 03 w/96k I use:

Amsoil 0w30 Sig series Oil
WIX 51334 oil filter
Amsoil Man Trans Fluid 5w30
Amsoil Severe Gear 75-110
Prestone Dot 4 Brake/Clutch fluid
K&N air filter

OCI=5k miles for Oil,Oil filter,clutch & brake fluids.
Trans & diff once a yr or 15k miles.
