Default S2000 oil check HELP

Hey guys, I apologize for the novice question, but I just recently changed my oil about a week ago and I've been spiritedly driving my car around since then. I checked the oil stick and its reading a tad bit above the "H" symbol. It's literally right on the top of the "H". I'm just getting a little paranoid and wonder if I should drain some oil out or would I be fine leaving it in there? I would hate to damage my 24k mile motor! Please let me know

Thanks guys!

Did you check both sides of the dipstick? Ours can be a pain in the butt.

Think tad above H mark is ok. Prolly better than a tad below.

You sure that the car is on level ground?

How long did you let it drain, at what temp, what filter did you replace it with, and how much oil did you add?
Without knowing if you're on level ground, with car off for at least an hour, and if you checked both sides of the dipstick accurately... we can't tell you much.

You're probably fine though, I would imagine.

You can overfill safely by at least 1/4 of a quart so I'd say you are good.

I'll go along with that, sure.

I know some auto-x guys will purposely overfill their sumps by a small amount such as this.

I'd hazard a guess that the danger lies around 1/2 quart or more above the full mark, but just a guess. I know Billman250 has seen instances where overfilling has caused hydro lock of the engine and perhaps he would know the exact level that may cause that.

With a Fumoto valve it is easy to drain the exact amount of oil you want to adjust for an overfill. I can change the oil without jacking the car or getting underneath it save for the oil catch pan. Oil change with just the hood open.

Some say a rock (unlikely) can hit it and may cause a leak but as I do not off road in the S I will have much, much bigger problems if something hits the valve. Had it for 4 years now; here it is on my S:

In addition to the comments above, to make reading (both sides) of the dipstick easier with clean oil, sandblast or finely sand the stick end.
