Lots of people don't check their oil. Period.

Cmon mods, make it happen.

Edit: I forgot it's in the s2000 common problems sticky. But maybe it's own sticky would be a good idea.

The lower your oil gets the faster it will burn, so your only best option right now is to top it off as its needed when its needed, which sounds like a couple times during a tank of gas.

Poor oil level and oil quality will cause any TCT to act up just fyi. They work under oil pressure, and if that drops from the mentioned, they won’t work.

You may also have a problem with the belt tentioner pulley, these do go out eventually. With 160k miles it’s highly possible.

Sorry for the bad news/situation. If it makes you feel any better ive been through 5 motors in my S career.

**Please check your oil religiously guys, its 90% of the premature downward spiraling early death of these engines out there, im convinced. The rest are with us Boosted guys.
Ah f@#k. I guess I'll start looking into a new engine. I learned my lesson the hard way. My old S (also an AP1) hardly ever burned any oil so I just wasn't used to checking.
5motors? Damn! Mind me asking how they've come and gone?

It did sound like that. Some fella I asked to check it out literally just poked around the belt tensioner and the clicking is gone for me though. I would suggest reading through everyone's responses for further ideas.

All he did was press it against the engine and touch the belt some which started to change the pitch and speed of the clicks until it went away
Nothing fancy
