haha I know I know. Shame on me for trying. Doesn't it warm up the car faster? lol jk

Seriously though, it was the first time I tried and was surprised at the fact.

Haha I wont lie I done the same thing a couple times. First time it scared me then I realized that the engine not being hot is probably why. The other times I forgot the engine was still cold (still should of known better).

Glad you took our comments as well as you did. The best way to warm up an engine is casual driving for the first few minutes as I stated. Letting the car idle doesn't equal actual driving time if you are wondering as well. Always remember that your car loves it when you drive her hard, but you still have to do a bit of foreplay before you can beat it up.

lol thanks for sharing. I actually did feel like I was the only one who ever tried for a second!

The car won't let VTEC engage until it hits a certain temperature--- on AP1s it's 3 bars on the temp gauge-- on later cars, it's a different number of bars lit and the number varies as the dash design was changed every 2 years in the AP2s
The actual temperature the engine has to reach is the same for all years-- its just the dash indicator (number of total bars on the temp display) that is different.

It'll run in vtec at 2 bars. I've done it... And casually driving is always better to warm the car to warm tranny and such to optimal operating temps than idle. I usually just crank it and give it about 5 mins idling before I drive it
