You can reduce the warm up time immensely by doing the following:
Get yourself 1/4 cord of firewood. It's gotta be a hot burning wood like Birch. Use some gasoline to speed up the process even more. Light 'er up. When you got some good red hot coals going on, spread them on your driveway. Roll the car so the engine is over the coals. Give it about a minute or two or till you smell the faint odor of melting rubber, then fire it up and you should be able to VTEC in reverse out the driveway. Even better if your car is lowered. Gets the oil pan closer to the heat. By the time you get back home, the pig should also be done.

The temp display on the dash is just water temp btw, oil temp (the stuff that actually protects the engine) takes about twice as long to get up to temp. Yes you can rag it before then but good practice would be at least 10 mins of moderate driving before giving it full balls.
I would rather wait another 10 mins after that before going to 9k rpm. (oil takes at least 15 mins of normal driving to get to operating temp).

i dont really have very many posts to add weight in what i have to say but...
dear op,
people like you are the reason why i hesitate about buying used cars. i can not think why anyone would want to redline a car that had just been cold started. do you just lack common sense or do you just not care about your ride? either way next time i buy a used car i hope my path does not cross someone who treats their car like you.
