I don't ever power shift but on hard 2-3 shifts the wheels can and will break loose.

Take your foot off the gas while you are shifting and engage the transmission/clutch fast and smooth. You are autocrossing not drag racing: you need to keep the car as settled as possible. Shifting hard doesn't mean you are shifting right. It might feel fast. It might feel good. It doesn't improve your driving (times) and it certainly wears out your drivetrain faster.

When I say "power shift", I'm not saying that I leave my foot in the gas between gears. I'm saying that I shift quickly at redline, and give it gas and let out the clutch before the engine RPMs fall back down to 6~7K RPMs. Most clutches have enough grab to hook up, which will result in the tires chirping, but my clutch is not strong enough. Often, my RPMs will just slowly drop, as the car accelerates until the Engine and Transmission are at the same RPM. I have been autocrossing for a long time, and I know that there is no reason I should stay off the gas any longer than I have to.

GERNBY, You may have glazed your disc, just like it is easy to glaze brake shoes. If that is the case, you've no choice but to pull it and fix the problem. As an aside, I see all the speculation about different versions of the OEM clutch and am wondering why info about that is not readily available from the factory. Someone surely knows someone who can find out?

I have glazed my brakes before, but they fixed themselves after about a week of "sane" driving. I would expect that the clutch would do the same, eventually. I am not going to replace my clutch until it is completely gone. The clutch does hold the power, it is just a little slow on hooking up. It is just an annoyance right now. It isn't slowing me down.

Jenner,

I've also noticed it slipping under heavy load(like 6th gear), or when I power shift it slips instead of grabs and the change from gear to gear is less pronounced.

I experienced what you describe above several times with the stock clutch. I got the clutch TSB with the latest clutch and it also slips when I "power shift". I haven't really been doing any hi rev clutch drops since I got the new TSB clutch, so I can't comment on that.

I'm just gonna wait until this one fries or wears out, then get a good aftermarket clutch one.
